Selecting Tools and Equipment As a start you should have the basic tools needed to repair for electrical, and mechanical tools. Electrical tools included are screw driver, Philips screw driver, long nose, electrician pliers, diagonal cutter, wire stripper, blade cutter and the most important instrument are ammeter and the multi-tester. Mechanical tools needed are adjustable wrenches, open wrench set, socket wrench set, hex key set, vise grip or locking pliers, metal shear, hack saw, ball peen hammer, flat files, and chisels. For any simple troubles as cut wires, busted fuses, burnt parts: you could able to earn a cost for a service that would not take so long time. When you will be involved in repairing the refrigeration tube system, you must have the proper training in managing the different refrigerants for each unit and the different gases used. For refrigerant recharging, you need a gauge manifold for R-134a /R-22 type with flexible hoses, refrigerant service tank, ratchet wrench, piercing valve for ¼ inch diameter tube, two identical size adjustable wrench (8inches in length), tube cutter, flaring tool set, swaging tool set, small triangular file about 6 inches length, a small round mirror and plastic ware water basin. If you need a tube brazing, you will need a portable Oxy-acetylene welding torch or LPG Blow torch. Tube brazing is more reliable than using tube fittings which is prone to loosening during the vibration of the motor compressor that may cause refrigerant leaking. But nowadays, there are some available brands that offer No-Brazing techniques by joining metals like Lokring.Sometimes you will miss some materials or tools which you don’t have, put it down to your notes for reminders. The next time you will buy supplies and materials, you will include few tools that you don’t have. Later on, you may complete these tool set for your services. Some tools are not frequently used, but make sure you have one piece of it when time comes if you’ll need it. By these things you have, you can manage nearby services on homes in your neighborhood.
